Driver crashes through cemetery destroys dozens of graves

A man has been injured after losing control of his car and crashing through a cemetery.

Dozens of tombstones were destroyed when the man’s Mercedes Benz flew off the road into Randwick Cemetery in South Coogee, in Sydney’s east, at 2.30am Tuesday.

A man is his 40s allegedly returned a positive result after being breath-tested at the scene and police are investigating the crash.

The car smashed through a concrete wall and landed upside down among the graves, the Today show reported.

The driver suffered facial and abdominal injuries and was taking to St Vincent’s Hospital in a stable condition where he will undergo mandatory testing.

Police are urging anyone with information on the crash to come forward.
