A VERY bad Santa: Driver is arrested for ‘fleeing the scene after drunkenly crashing into parked vehicles – but leaves his ID and red hat behind’

A driver dressed as Santa Claus has been arrested in California, accused of drunkenly crashing into a number of parked vehicles.
The unidentified man, in full festive costume, was found by police in Chula Vista in the early hours of Monday morning.
He had allegedly run away from the scene after crashing his Subaru Crosstrek. One person is said to have been injured in the incident.
Images show several cars along the street badly damaged. The driver’s abandoned Santa hat was left behind at the scene, along with his ID, ABC10 reports.

Police were called to the scene at around 1:30am on Monday morning.
Eyewitnesses told officers they had seen a man dress as Santa running away following the crash.
One said: ‘He was fully dressed as Santa Claus and I saw him hop out of the vehicle and I saw him run away like ‘Bad Santa,’ you know?’
Billy Bob Thornton played Willie Stokes in the 2003 black comedy Bad Santa – playing the professional department store thief.
The injured person is said to have been a passenger in his car, who was ejected in the crash, suffering minor injuries.
Using his ID police found the man, who they have not yet named.

The man was taken into custody on unspecified charges but thought to be DUI related.
In a statement on Facebook Chula Vista police department wrote: ‘No matter who you are, it’s never ok to drink and drive.’
