A motorist was allegedly assaulted during a violent carjacking on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old Perth man was driving his black Volkswagon Jetta when he was approached by another man at a red light, police said.
The man, who pulled up next to the 28-year-old in a white Toyota Kluger, allegedly opened the motorist’s door and demanded the his vehicle, before punching him and the head several times and dragging him out of the car.

Another man in the Toyota reportedly pointed what looked to be a gun at the 28-year-old.
The attackers then drove away, one in each of the cars.
Police said they are currently searching for both of the vehicles – a black Volkswagon Jetta with registration GFA299 and a white 2017 Toyota Kluger with registration GLC559.
Officers have warned anyone who sees the vehicles to call police.
