‘Drunk and unlicensed’ driver on boardwalk in Brisbane

A woman has been charged after allegedly driving an unregistered car down a busy boardwalk while drunk and unlicensed.

Police breath-tested the woman after she allegedly drove a white Mitsubishi Magna down a busy pedestrian boardwalk in Brisbane during rush-hour on Tuesday.

The woman, 40, had allegedly driven from Atkinsons Dam 60kilometres away with a blood alcohol level of 0.153 per cent – over three times the legal limit.

South Bank security spotted the car after it was allegedly driven through the Kurilpa parkway limited-access walkway and bicycle path about 6.50pm.

Police said the boardwalk was busy at the time with pedestrians and cyclists, and the woman was taken to the Brisbane City Watch House after testing positive.

The woman was charged with drink driving, driving without a licence and driving an unregistered vehicle.

She will face Brisbane Magistrates Court on February 13.
