Drunk firefighter accused of fatally mowing down another

An Indiana volunteer firefighter allegedly drove drunk when he crashed his truck into three other vehicles, killing one firefighter who was standing.

Three firefighters from the Montgomery and Cannelburg, Indiana, fire departments were responding to a call close to 10pm when another arrived on the scene.

Colby Blake, 26, hit the rear of another truck with his truck when he arrived and kept going to strike another and eventually the firefighter.

Kendall Murphy, the firefighter, had been standing next to a car when he was hit.

Blake would eventually stop but only after he hit a third firefighter’s vehicle, according to police.

The 27-year-old firefighter who was hit died on the scene and was pronounced as such by the Daviess County Coroner.

News of Murphy’s death struck the two towns, who officials say are very close with each other.

‘This is going to have a tremendous impact on these folks,’ sais ISP Sgt. Philip Hensley to the IndyStar.
