Dua Lipa reflects on the ‘breakups which ended badly’ as she calls ‘dating confusing’ amid Callum Turner romance

Dua Lipa has shared an insight into the complexities of her love life in a new interview.

The singer, 28, is rumoured to be dating British actor Callum Turner after the pair were spotted getting cosy at a Beverly Hills party at the Steven Spielberg series Masters Of The Air earlier this month.

Ahead of the release of her third album, Dua shed light on how her past heartache has influenced her music and the ‘confusing stages’ of dating in a new interview with Rolling Stone.

The songstress looked incredible as she showed off her red hair in the front cover shoot and also showed off her androgynous side in a black suit.

Dua alluded to her reported break-up from her French boyfriend Romain Gavras.

Romain is the ‘nepo baby’ of Costa-Gavras, the acclaimed Greco-French director of such classic leftist films as Z and State Of Siege.

Reports began circulating in December that Dua and Romain, 42, had split after eight months on dating.

She said: ‘I’ve had breakups in my life where I felt like the only kind of breakup you could have was when things just ended really badly. Things ending in a nice way was such a new thing.… It taught me a lot.’

Before Romain, Dua had a two year relationship with Anwar Hadid, 24.

Earlier this month, Dua sent tongues wagging when she was pictured slow-dancing with actor Callum, 33, in Los Angeles.

Callum was briefly linked last year to English model Mathilda Lowther, granddaughter of the 7th Earl of Lonsdale.

Before that, he spent four years involved with Vanessa Kirby, who shot to international fame as Princess Margaret on the first two seasons of The Crown.

‘It’s new, but they’re mad about each other,’ an insider told Page Six ‘She was at the premiere to support him.’

Of dating, Dua said: ‘I think overall, is just a little confusing. It’s either through friends of friends or people you trust where you can meet new people, because [dating] is not really so straightforward when you are, I guess, a public person.;

 Lyrics in her new album also reflect her turbulent love life.

These include: ‘We call it love but hate it here/Did we really mean it when we said forever?’ and ‘I must have loved you more than I ever knew.… I’m not mad/I’m not hurt/You got everything you deserve.’

Dua told Rolling Stone: ‘When you have a feeling like that one, you feel really grown because you’re like, “Oh, whoa, I’m such an evolved human being that I can see my ex move on and feel good about it”.

The new issue of Rolling Stone is out now.
