Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson tried to save Chicago and his genetically mutated gorilla George in a new trailer released on Thursday for Rampage.
The 45-year-old actor portrays primatologist Davis Okoye in the upcoming monster film based on the 1986 arcade game by Bally Midway.
The trailer opened with Davis in sunglasses confirming that he likes animals more than people.

‘Animals get me,’ Davis said.
He was then shown with the highly intelligent albino silverback gorilla George that Davis rescued when he was only two years old.
Dr. Kate Caldwell, played by 41-year-old English actress Naomie Harris, noted that George ‘definitely trusts’ Davis.
An incoming fiery projectile was shown flying over Everglades National Park and striking close to George who went over to investigate.

George was exposed to a green gas that pained the beast causing the animal to bare his fangs while roaring to the sky.
Davis was next seen cautiously approaching wounded George hiding out in a cave.
‘Last night George was seven-feet and weighed 500 pounds,’ Davis said in a voice over.

‘This morning he’s nine feet, pushing a thousand,’ he added.
George was penned up as Davis sought answers.
‘Have you ever heard of genetic editing?,’ Kate asked him while also cautioning that changes would be ‘incredibly unpredictable’.

Davis asked government agent Marley Shelton, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, if George was the only one.

Joe Manganiello, 40, was then seen portraying private military group leader Burke who was tracking the giant wolf.
Caged up: George was caged up by the government but Davis was allowed to visit

George was then shown in a cage being transported in a plane and breaking out of his confines.
The enraged gorilla tossed people around and absorbed gunfire before fracturing the fuselage and forcing the plane down.
‘Let’s go save the world,’ Davis told Kate as he climbed into the pilot’s seat of a helicopter and prepared for take off.

The chopper hopped up for a moment and settled back down with a jolt.
‘It’s coming back to me. It’s coming back,’ Davis quipped as he got the chopper off the ground.
George grew to truly monstrous proportions prompting Davis to urge the evacuation of Chicago.

Davis tried to rescue George who smashed through buildings as the military bore down on him.
George was soon joined however by his mutated cohort Ralph, the enormous wolf.
Matters only worsened as a large creature was shown swimming underwater in the river.

‘I was just thinking that the only thing missing was a giant crocodile,’ Davis said in the chopper.
The giant crocodile Lizzie then leaped out of the water emitting a high-pitched reptilian scream.
Rampage is scheduled to be in theaters on April 20, 2018.
