DWTS pro Mark Ballas and his pregnant wife BC Jean reveal they suffered devastating miscarriage last year – as couple prepare to welcome ‘rainbow baby’

Dancing With the Stars professional Mark Ballas and his wife BC Jean have revealed they suffered a devastating miscarriage last year before falling pregnant with their ‘rainbow baby’.

Ballas, 37, and Jean, 36, who announced they were expecting a baby in June, detailed their loss in a new song – Rainbow – from their band  Alexander Jean.

Sharing the video to Instagram this week, the caption read: ‘We lost a baby last year, just when we thought we were in a good place to tell friends + family.

‘We received the heavy news that our little one wasn’t going to make it. We’ve both been through hard things, but this was a different kind of sadness.”

‘This song is for anyone that has experienced loss in any form [and] we hope it brings whoever listens some kind of peace and reminds you that a rainbow isn’t far behind.’

The video showed Jean showing off her bump with Mark as they reflected on their loss and looked ahead of their new arrival.

Jean sings: ‘Give me some good news / something to look forward to.

‘Nothing I could do / would put the life back into you. I don’t know what to say / life is pretty strange like rain in mid-July. It’s funny in a way / how quickly it can change / but a rainbow ain’t far behind.’

The pair announced their ‘rainbow’ pregnancy in June via a heartfelt video which showed the beauty debuting her bump ahead of the arrival of their baby.

The ballroom professional – who retired from DWTS in March after 16 years – recently shared a video on his Instagram account titled ‘Life Lately.’

In the video montage, he and BC recorded new music, enjoyed snacks, got cozy, played in the sand, played more music, and created ‘A tiny human.’

The video starts by featuring palm trees in the background with the words ‘Lately, we’ve been…’ written on the screen.

The couple was then pictured driving while Mark played his guitar in the front seat.

Later, they can be seen enjoying themselves at Disneyland while wearing cozy Mickey and Minnie Mouse sweatshirts.

Ballas – the son of Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas and her ex Corky Ballas –  and Jean crossed paths in 2012 when he was playing in a band and Jean was performing her music.
