Dylan Farrow continues to discuss Woody Allen’s abuse

Woody Allen’s daughter Dylan Farrow has gone into graphic detail about how the director allegedly sexually assaulted her when she was a child, saying she feels ‘outraged’ about she was ‘tossed aside’ for finally sharing the story of her ‘abuse.’

‘He’s lying, and he’s been lying for so long,’ said Farrow, who was adopted by the director and actress Mia Farrow, in an emotional interview with Gayle King on CBS This Morning on Thursday.

‘I loved my father. I respected him. He was my hero. And that doesn’t obviously take away from what he did,’ she said. ‘But it does make the betrayal and the hurt that much more intense.’

Allen, 82, has once again rejected claims he molested his adopted daughter and accused his ‘angry’ ex-wife Mia Farrow of ‘relentlessly coaching’ the 32-year-old into thinking he was a ‘dangerous sexual predator’. 

She told CBS’s Gayle King that she had every right to want to ‘bring Allen down’ along with the rafts of other men who have been destroyed by sexual assault allegations and revelations in the past six months

Farrow, who broke down after the statement was read on the show admitted it was still ‘difficult for me to see him and to hear his voice. I’m sorry.’

But she was furious over his claims that her mother had ‘coached’ her to make up the story.

‘What I don’t understand is, how is this crazy story of me being brainwashed and coached more believable than what I’m saying about being sexually assaulted by my father?’ 

Farrow first alleged she was molested by Allen, when she was just seven years old,  in 1992.

For the first time in a TV interview, Farrow described what allegedly took place on the day in question, while her mom was out shopping. 

‘He instructed me to lay down on my stomach and play with my brother’s toy train that was set up,’ she told King.

‘And he sat behind me in the doorway, and as I played with the toy train, I was sexually assaulted… As a 7-year-old I would say, I would have said he touched my private parts.

‘As a 32-year-old, he touched my labia and my vulva with his finger,’ Farrow continued. 

Mia reportedly took Dylan to the pediatrician after she told her what happened at the time, but she says she was too embarrassed to tell the doctor what occurred.

Dylan said her father was also always touching and cuddling her, something he didn’t do with her brother, Ronan, and claims he invited her into his bed while he was only wearing his underwear – and often she was just wearing her underwear.

The claims were investigated by officials from New York State and Yale New Haven Hospital who did not find evidence of abuse.

Connecticut state prosecutor Frank Maco, questioned the credibility of the New Haven report and said there was probable cause to charge Allen.

But no charges were ever filed as they didn’t want a child to be subjected to a celebrity trial. 

Now, in the light of the Me Too and Time’s Up movements to expose sexual misconduct in Hollywood, the claims have resurfaced. 

The accusations against Allen were first made in 1992 and he has never faced charges 

‘I am credible and I am telling the truth and I think it’s important that people realize that one victim, one accuser, matters. And that they are enough to change things,’ Farrow said in the first part of her CBS interview yesterday. 

‘Why shouldn’t I want to bring him down? Why shouldn’t I be angry? Why shouldn’t I be hurt? Why shouldn’t I feel some sort of outrage that after all these years, being ignored and disbelieved and tossed aside…’ 

Yet Allen claims in his statement that the Farrows were hijacking the popular Me Too and Times Up movements, to tackle sexual assault and harassment in Hollywood, for their own gains.

‘Even though the Farrow family is cynically using the opportunity afforded by the Time’s Up movement to repeat this discredited allegation, that doesn’t make it any more true today than it was in the past,’ the Annie Hall director said in his statement.

He added that the investigations into the alleged abuse found no evidence of molestation, but ‘found it likely a vulnerable child had been coached to tell the story by her angry mother during a contentious breakup.’

‘Dylan’s older brother Moses has said that he witnessed their mother doing exactly that – relentlessly coaching Dylan, trying to drum into her that her father was a dangerous sexual predator. It seems to have worked – and, sadly, I’m sure Dylan truly believes what she says.’ 

In February 2014, Farrow, now 32, wrote an open letter in The New York Times in which she describes the alleged behavior by her adoptive father.

Allen, she writes, would ‘stick his thumb in my mouth’.

He also allegedly made her climb into bed with him ‘when he was in his underwear’ and ‘would place his head in my naked lap and breathe in and breathe out.’

Allen denied the allegations.

He wrote his own response to the Times saying that the authorities exonerated him of any wrongdoing.   

The details came out in a bitter custody dispute and Hollywood initially dismissed the claims. 

But it appears the tide may be turning given the recent scandals. 

This week Farrow thanked Mira Sorvino for a letter saying she now believed the allegations having batted them away as lies in the early 90s. 

In the letter which was published by Huffington Post, Sorvino writes that she chalked up Dylan Farrow’s claims that Allen sexually abused her when she was a child to ‘an outgrowth of a twisted custody battle between’ the Annie Hall director and his former partner.

Farrow’s brother Ronan, who is Woody Allen and  Mia Farrow’s only biological child, was integral in exposing the sexual abuse of Harvey Weinstein in October. He has said publicly that he is sympathetic with Dylann 

‘I am writing to express my belief in and support of you,’ Sorvino writes.

‘I am overwhelmed and my gratitude to you cannot be expressed sufficiently in words,’ Farrow tweeted to Sorvino on Thursday. 

‘This letter is beautiful and I will carry your words with me. 

‘Your courage has been boundless and your activism an example for us all. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.’ 

Sorvino responded to Farrow with a tweet that read: ‘I am so deeply happy that you felt good about it.’ 

Sorvino, 50, apologized to Farrow, 32, for ‘not looking further’ into her allegations that she first revealed to her mother in 1993.    

Sorvino writes that it was difficult to publicly renounce Allen, the director who cast her in the 1995 romantic comedy Mighty Aphrodite.

Her work on the film earned her an Academy Award for best supporting actress.

Mighty Aphrodite was a film distributed by Miramax, a company founded by Harvey Weinstein and his brother, Bob Weinstein.

Sorvino was one of the first actresses to publicly come forward with accusations that Harvey Weinstein harassed her in Toronto in 1995.

After she refused his advances, Sorvino said Weinstein had her ‘blacklisted’ by telling other filmmakers that she was difficult to work with, likely costing her roles in Hollywood.

Weinstein has denied the allegations.

Describing herself at the time as a ‘naïve young actress,’ Sorvino writes that she and Allen were ‘friendly though not close’ during the filming of the movie and that during their time together ‘in no way did he ever overstep his bounds with me.’

‘I never personally experienced [with Allen] what has now been described as inappropriate behavior toward young girls,’ Sorvino writes.

‘But this does not excuse my turning a blind eye to your story simply because I wanted desperately for it not to be so.’
