The Philadelphia Eagles have reportedly finalizing a trade to send defensive end Bryce Huff to San Francisco in a deal that reunites the edge rusher with his former head coach with the New York Jets, newly hired 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh.

Daily Mail has reached out to both the Eagles and 49ers on the deal, which will become official on June 1.

The Super Bowl champions will reportedly receive a mid-round pick as part of the deal, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Huff played four seasons with the Jets, where he recorded 10 sacks during an impressive 2023 season. That success helped him to sign a new three-year, $51 million deal with Philadelphia last year.

But while Huff was a contributor for the eventual Super Bowl champions in the regular season, he failed to distinguish himself on one of the league’s top defenses.

Now Huff will reunite with Saleh, who coached Huff for three seasons in New York.

Huff is not the first former Jet on his way to San Francisco. Linebacker Chazz Surratt and punter Thomas Morstead have also joined the 49ers this offseason to reunite with Saleh, who was fired New York’s head coach last season.

An Alabama native who played collegiately at Memphis, Huff could factor in on the defensive line opposite veteran star Nick Bosa.

San Francisco did draft edge rusher Mykel Williams out of Georgia, but the rookie first-round pick is just 20-years-old. Huff, the five-year veteran, is 27 and arguably in the prime of his career.

Huff, 27, recorded 13 tackles, 2.5 sacks and one forced fumble while playing in 12 games (six starts) last season with the Eagles. He landed on injured reserve on November 22 following surgery on his left wrist – an injury he sustained during warmups prior to the team’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Huff totaled 78 tackles, 20 sacks and two forced fumbles in 66 career games (13 starts) with the Jets (2020-23) and Eagles.
