Max Bowden has confirmed his romance with new girlfriend Roisin Buckle on Instagram.

A source confirmed to MailOnline that the EastEnders actor, 26, has been dating 36-year-old Roisin since May and she has been ‘a great comfort to Max’ following his year of heartbreak.

Not only did Max, who plays Ben Mitchell on the hit BBC One soap, split from his long-term girlfriend Danielle McCarney in April, but he lost three close friends this year.

Last month, Max shared the heartbreaking news that his best friend Maxwell Alexander Grey Thompson had died.

In June, Max announced his friend Luke Goodings had passed away and another friend, Terry Mills, died in February.

Max took to Instagram over the weekend to share a glamorous photo of his blonde bombshell girlfriend enjoying a tipple and was also seen posing next to Roisin in a sweet snap.

A source told MailOnline: ‘Max and his gorgeous girlfriend Roisin have been together since May.’

They added: ‘Roisin has been a great comfort to Max, who’s suffered a lot of heartbreak recently, with the loss of a close friend in June, and then devastatingly his best friend last month.’

In September, Max took to Instagram to thank Maxwell for being ‘his best friend for 15 years’.

He did not specify how his friend died, but wrote: ‘The hole in my life you have left will never ever be filled.’

Months earlier, in June, Max said that his ‘heart is in bits’ after the death of his friend Luke.

He wrote on Instagram: ‘Lukey, will always love you my bro. Rest easy now. Freestyle the s*** out of it up there.’ (sic)

The soap star did not disclose either of his friends’ cause of death.

In February, Max’s friend and celebrity agent Terry passed away after contracting Covid-19 in Mexico and falling into a coma.

Cancer survivor Terry, 38, originally from Devon, caught Covid-19 during a business trip to Cancun which later developed into pneumonia.
