EastEnders star Cheryl Fergison looks worlds apart from her onscreen character Heather Trott

She’s well-known for playing hapless Heather Trott in EastEnders, who was sadly killed off from the BBC soap back in 2012.

But Cheryl Fergison looked worlds away from the frumpy launderette worker as she put on a glam display to attend the press night for Dirty Dancing at the Dominion Theatre in London on Wednesday.

The actress, 57, displayed a slimmed down figure from her time on the box, looking lovely in an all-black ensemble worn under a long open patterned shirt.

She covered her curly locks with a black beret and completed her look with a slick of berry lipstick and her character’s famous alice band was nowhere in sight.

Cheryl has credited her off her transformation with a recently re-discovered love of roller-skating.

Sharing a picture of herself on her skates, she wrote on Instagram: ‘Not been on Roller Skates since I was about 13 years old.

‘I wasn’t a bad skater from 7-13 but then never went again until today … the fear of falling now is real.

‘But the fun and exercise is a real feel good factor and so cheap too £5 to Skate and £2 roller boot hire … blooming bargain and such family fun too.’

Cheryl first appeared in EastEnders in 2007 and was involved in a number of storylines including her marriage to Minty Peterson and having a baby with Darren Miller.

Heather was later killed off in 2012 when Ben Mitchell hit her over the head with a photo frame.

Last year, Cheryl insisted her husband Yassine el Jamouni isn’t a ‘gold digger’ after being subjected to cruel trolls, and said that they are still happily married 12 years on.

She exchanged vows with the rarely-seen shop assistant, 36, back in 2011 – however their relationship has been plagued with doubts.

She went on to claim the naysayers are sexist and that they wouldn’t question Mick Jagger, 79, for his union with ballerina Melanie Hamrick, 36.

She told The Mirror: ‘The world has become so cynical. People think it’s got to be a con, it’s got to be a problem. But I say, “It hasn’t got to be anything. Just stop it!”

‘It seems to be quite cool for the men, like Mick Jagger, to date younger. And it seems okay for them to have someone else two years later.

‘Well we don’t care. It really is absolutely water off a duck’s back to us now. I just feel sorry for them, that they need to criticise our life.’

Despite Heather being unlucky in love, in real life, the actress enjoyed a whirlwind romance with her second husband after meeting him online in 2010.

She soon jetted out to his hometown of Agadir and they got hitched by the following June.

Cheryl previously revealed she didn’t reveal her identity to the Moroccan for five months after they starting messaging online.

Talking to Loose Women in 2017, the soap star said she enjoyed an ‘old-fashioned’ courtship with her then 30-year-old partner.

She said: ‘We met online and wrote to one another on the computer and spoke on the computer. It was very old-fashioned.

‘He didn’t know what I did for a living. I didn’t show him my picture. It was five months of chat before we met each other.

‘I saw him and it was like “ping”. I knew he was the man I was going to marry and I had been married once before.’

Addressing the 21-year age gap, Cheryl said that ‘age doesn’t matter’ and ‘no one blinks when a man does it.’

She continued: ‘Thank goodness we’re not all the same. I think do whatever you are comfortable with.’
