eBay is down as reports from users in the UK, US and Europe who are unable to access their accounts on the auction site flood in

  • Online shoppers have reported that the auction and sales site is gone down
  •  Down Detector have been getting reports since around 7.30am this morning
  •  Sellers who were denied access to the site have called for compensation
  • Some have reported that they missed out on last-ditch bid items with one even writing that she was ‘having a meltdown’ that she was going to lose a product

Frustrated shoppers are reporting that  eBay is down, leaving thousands of people locked out of their accounts.

Users began reported having issues accessing the website and its app just before 8am (4am EST / 1am PST)  this morning.

The crash prevented users in the UK, United States, Europe, Australia and other areas of the globe from logging in.

Sellers who were denied access to the auction and sales site have called for compensation, saying they missed out on last-ditch bids on items.

eBay has apologised for the outage and said the issue was resolved around an hour later.

Down Detector, a site that monitors technical issues with websites around the world, said there are hundreds of reports in the UK that eBay is not working.

One customer tweeted: ‘Annoying as I had products up for bid and now they won’t have sold or won’t have sold for the value they should because no one could bid.’

One user posted on Twitter: ‘How am I supposed to buy s*** I don’t need when eBay is down?’

Another said: ‘Can’t log in to see my items that are ending this morning. Hope eBay are offering compensation as I’ll loose out on bids if they don’t fix their problems soon!’

A spokesman for eBay said in a statement: ‘Ebay is currently experiencing technical difficulties.

‘We have a team working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.’

‘Apologies for any inconvenience.’

A furious site user said she would ‘have a meltdown’ if the outage meant she lost out on an item she was after.

She wrote: ‘This is so annoying. I woke up early to win something. If it has sold already I am going to have a melt down.. Ebay you have ruined my life!’

One seller said that he lost out on money: ‘Damn Ebay, I have an auction sale ending at 8.10am, so no last minute bids, thanks alot, will be on to you later,’ he said.
