Other fans joked that the British popstar had ‘done a Bono’, a reference to the U2 singer’s accident in New York in 2014.
Following that crash, Bono required surgery and was unable to play guitar for around six months after swerving to avoid another cyclist.
Shock: The singer, pictured earlier this year, was taken to hospital and is believed to have broken his arm after the accident
Ed’s accident comes a year after he was hospitalised following a party prank with fellow musician James Blunt and royal Princess Beatrice.
He received a cut to his cheek after the mishap, in which the Princess reported hit his face with a sword as she jokingly ‘knighted’ Blunt.
Last year he was seen with a bike in Compton, prompting rapper The Game to say he’d cycled through LA’s most notorious neighbourhood on the two-wheeler.
Ed later revealed he found the bike outside a recording studio, but added: ‘If I’d had a bike I would have ridden it there.’
