And Ed Sheeran took to Instagram on Monday to explain his no-show, having decided to take an early night instead of heading to the swanking awards ceremony in New York City.
The Shape Of You hitmaker, 26, revealed he was celebrating his two-gong win by dancing with his cat, Calippo, after scooping not just one but two big wins.

But posting a snap of his feline, he wrote: ‘Woke up to the news I won two Grammys last night. Thank you! This little fluff-ball is doing a bit of a celebratory dance, lots of love to everyone xx.’
Ed won Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album, against such competitors as Kesha, Pink and Kelly Clarkson.
Divide, the British singer’s third album, won Best Pop Vocal Album, while his hit track Shape Of You was crowned Best Pop Solo Performance.

Already a Grammy winner, Ed previously won the Song Of The Year and Best Pop Solo Performance at the ceremony in 2006, at which he was a guest.
Ed appears to be taking some time out after announcing his engagement on the social media site earlier this month with a sweet post of himself and Cherry kissing in a vintage photo filter.
He wrote: ‘Got myself a fiancée just before new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx’

Ed met Cherry when they were both students at Thomas Mills High School in Framlingham, Suffolk, when Ed had a crush on the pretty brunette, but they didn’t start dating until 2015.
The star has had a monumental past year, with him becoming the first artist to have all top four singles at once; Shape Of You, Castle On The Hill, Galway Girl and Perfect.

In the album’s opening weekend on Spotify, Ed smashed their ‘first day’ streams for an album with over 56million (almost doubling the record set by The Weeknd’s ‘Starboy’ at 29m).
He also broke their best ‘one day’ streams for an artist at over 68million (again, storming past The Weeknd, whom set the record previously with 40.3m), landed their highest ‘one day’ streams for a track.
His success had global reach with the Brit’s album garnering critical acclaim worldwide.
Ed previously reveals he hopes to beat Adele in terms of album sales, revealing that she is the ‘benchmark’ for the type of global success he wants to achieve.
‘Adele is the one person who’s sold more records than me in the past 10 years,’ the singer told GQ.
‘She’s the only person I need to sell more records than. That’s a big feat because her last album sold 20 million. But if I don’t set her as the benchmark then I’m selling myself short.’
The superstar singer’s Divide album is part of a set of five albums Ed planned out in a mathematical theme all the way back in 2010.
Fellow British artist Adele already has a whopping 15 Grammy awards under her belt, previously setting the record for the most gongs taken in one night in 2012, when she took six in total.
