Ed Sheeran will perform on Saturday Night Live.

The singer has completed his Covid quarantine period after testing positive for coronavirus and has so been cleared to take to the stage for the show’s November 6 broadcast, which will be hosted by Succession star Kieran Culkin.

Ed, 30, took to Instagram on Tuesday to inform his followers that he’s ‘had the all-clear’ and has now been released from isolation.

The hitmaker wrote: ‘Posting this pic to say I’m released from Covid isolation today, so if you see me out and about I’ve had the all-clear and done my quarantine.

‘Excited to hit the ground running with work again, and SNL is still on, so tune in Saturday, see you there.’  

Saturday Night Live producers will surely be relieved as it was previously reported that they were ‘scrambling’ to replace Ed after the singer revealed that he had tested positive for COVID-19.

An insider told Page Six that producers on the NBC comedy staple were seeking ‘another singer who appeals to the same demo’ to replace Sheeran on the show, with Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes cited as potential stand-ins.

The source said that the show could permit Sheeran to stage a remote performance, but typically, ‘the show likes to have the performer in studio. Ed is offering to perform live via video link, but this isn’t something SNL does.’

Sheeran took to social media Sunday to update fans on his health, writing: ‘Hey guys. Quick note to tell you that I’ve sadly tested positive for Covid, so I’m now self-isolating and following government guidelines.

‘I’m now unable to plough ahead with any in person commitments for now, so I’ll be doing as many of my planned interviews/performances I can from my house.

‘Apologies to anyone I’ve let down. Be safe everyone x.’

Sheeran has appeared on Saturday Night Live as a musical guest on two previous occasions. In 2014, he performed his tracks Sing and Don’t on the show. ]

In a 2017 appearance, he sang Shape of You and Castle on the Hill on the NBC weekend staple.

The crooner is also slated to appear on The Voice as a mentor, and TMZ reported that Sheeran filmed his segment prior to testing positive. 

The musical artist’s fourth studio album, which is titled =, is slated for release October 29.
