Eddie McGuire refutes Karl Stefanovic’s wild claim that French people are ‘rude, pompous and weird sexually’ as they cover Olympics for Channel Nine

Eddie McGuire has weighed in with his opinion after Karl Stefanovic delivered a brutally honest opinion of French people, claiming they are ‘rude, pompous and weird sexually’.

The television hosts are both in Paris for the Olympics, both for Channel Nine, and Eddie says he has ‘the opposite’ view of the city to his colleague.

‘Love the vibe, people have been great, wonderful food, drivers have been hospitable’ he tells Adelaide Now.

‘Can’t wait to get to the end so I can have some magnificent French wine. Shops, landmarks, history, fashion (is) inspirational’ he continued.

‘Wonderful Rodin and Picasso exhibitions, shops and fashion totally wonderful.

‘The games have been inspirational and aspirational. It’s everything I hoped the Paris would be. Love it, Love Paris, Viva La France.’

Stefanovic shared his observations after spending time in Paris for the Olympic Games covering the sporting bonanza for the Australian broadcaster.

‘The French are weirdos. The French are complete weirdos. We all know that,’ he told the Kyle and Jackie O Show on Monday.

‘They’re kind of a weird nation, sexually.’

Jackie Henderson then asked Stefanovic if he has attempted to speak French with the locals, to which the presenter provided a curt reply.

‘Do you know what? I’ve stopped trying. I don’t really like them that much,’ Stefanovic said.

‘They’re so rude. Oh, they’re really up themselves… they’re pompous. They do a good burger though. I do like the burgers and stuff over here.’

Stefanovic has been staying in Airbnb accommodation with his wife Jasmine and daughter Harper.

The family copped criticism after Jasmine thanked Channel 9 in a social media post following a dinner at luxurious Parisian restaurant Girafe Restaurant.

Followers of the Stefanovics pointed out that staff at the network had been made redundant while they enjoyed the meal.

Last Thursday, the 49-year-old was spotted showing off daughter Harper’s athletic prowess while in Paris for the 2024 Olympics.

The father-daughter duo were seen running through the local streets as the Today host used a small pole as makeshift hurdles for his four-year-old tot.

It comes just days after Karl’s wife Jasmine revealed she and their daughter Harper are living it up in style as they accompany him to the Paris Olympics.

Jasmine, 40, who is in France with her husband as he covers the Games for Channel Nine, shared several photos to social media showcasing the lavish accommodation.

The trio appear to have scored in an apparent Airbnb sponsorship deal, with one photo showing Karl and Harper resting on the chaise lounge.

Another snap featured a spacious bedroom, complete with a king size bed and a stunning city view.

Jasmine captioned the pictures: ‘A beautiful welcome to Paris by @airbnb. Thank you for hosting us during the Olympics.
