Eddie Murphy says he would ‘absolutely’ reprise Shrek role ‘in 2 seconds’

Eddie Murphy said that if the opportunity ever presented itself to reprise his role as Donkey from Shrek, he would ‘absolutely do it.’

The 61-year-old comedian has recently been recreating some of his most iconic roles. He is bringing back Axle Foley from Beverly Hills Cop and recently returned as Prince Akeem in Coming 2 America.

The comedic icon sat down with Etalk earlier this week and said, ‘I’d absolutely be open if they ever came with another Shrek; I’d do it in two seconds. I love Donkey.’

Hilarious role: Murphy commented, 'They should've done a Donkey movie,' stating that although he loves Puss in Boots, Donkey is more funny

He loves the Donkey character: The 61-year-old comic and movie star Eddie Murphy said that he would ‘absolutely’ reprise his role as Donkey from Shrek if DreamWorks presented the opportunity

Murphy’s comments came after another character from the Shrek franchise Puss in Boots: The Last Wish broke the $300 million mark at the global box office and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film.

Despite being released the same day as Avatar 2: The Way of Water, the film put up impressive numbers.

Murphy hoped Donkey would be considered for his own feature, saying, ‘You know, they did Puss in Boots movies.’

He explained, ‘They should have done a Donkey movie. Donkey is funnier than Puss in Boots. I mean, I love Puss in Boots, but he ain’t funny as the Donkey.’

He's ready for a Donkey spinoff: Murphy said, 'They should have done a Donkey movie. Donkey is funnier than Puss in Boots. I mean, I love Puss in Boots, but he ain't funny as the Donkey'

Murphy explained that a spinoff movie starring Donkey would be up to DreamWorks.

‘That’s DreamWorks Animation. They have to want to do it. DreamWorks, if you all want to do it, just call me. I’m ready, I’m sitting and ready to do Donkey,’ he said

Earlier this week, Eddie appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in order to promote his upcoming culture clash comedy movie You People.

In the film, Jonah Hill plays Ezra, who is dating the daughter of Eddie’s character Akbar as the video shows the two characters on a drive together in Los Angeles.

Earlier this week, Eddie roasted Jonah Hill in a hilarious new teaser for their upcoming film You People, which had its star-studded premiere two weeks ago.

Murphy mocked the 39-year-old star for ‘white boy s***’ in the minute-long clip released by Netflix last Monday.

Akbar asks: ‘Do, you wanna marry my daughter?’

Ezra said that he wanted to marry his daughter Amira (Lauren London).

Akbar is completely stone-faced as he retorted: ‘Amira told me you gave up a job in finance so you could start a podcast.’

Ezra replies: ‘Life is short, and you gotta follow your dream.’

Razor sharp Akbar quickly responds by asking: ‘How you gonna support my daughter by following a dream? Do you have, like, some dream Bitcoin or some dream 401k or some s***?’

Ezra tries to keep his positive mental attitude as he says: ‘I am gonna give it everything I have.’

That is when things really start to get contentious as the patriarch hilariously mimicked his daughter’s boyfriend’s voice.

He said: ‘It sounds like some white boy s***. I’m gonna give it everything I’ve got.’

Ezra replies: ‘It is some white s*** for sure.’

Eddie earlier this month was honored at the Golden Globe Awards with the Cecil B. DeMille Award, a lifetime achievement prize.

He thanked a handful of people and quickly wrapped it up with a mic-drop joke about Will Smith and Chris Rock and that infamous Oscars slap.

‘I’ve been doing this for a long time so I could stand up here and keep saying thank you until they play the piano,’ Eddie said. ‘But I’m gonna wrap it up and just say something to all the up-and-coming dreamers and artists that are in the room tonight. I want to let you know that there is a definitive blueprint that you can follow to achieve success, prosperity and peace of mind. Pay your taxes, mind your business, and keep Will Smith´s wife´s name out of your f***ing mouth!’
