EDEN CONFIENTIAL: Potty-mouthed Kate Winslet’s potshots at film industry

She’s earned award nominations for her portrayal of historical female figures in the past, but that hasn’t stopped Kate Winslet from slamming Hollywood for not caring about women-only biopics.

Winslet, 48, who stars in the forthcoming movie Lee about the distinguished war photo journalist Lee Miller, didn’t mince her words in a potty-mouthed rant about perceived sexism in the film business.

‘I’ve been in this industry for a long time, won an Oscar. It doesn’t make any f***ing difference when you’re making a film about a historical female figure,’ she fumes.

‘There was a backer who said to me, ‘Why am I supposed to like this woman?’ And I thought, ‘Well, you’re not going to be part of our film – so f*** you’.’

She adds: ‘Actually, that was great – to be able to just go, ‘We’re only going to make it with nice people who understand the story we are trying to tell’.’

Janet Ellis daughter’s poignant wedding day tribute to late dad

Some cheering news for former Blue Peter presenter Janet Ellis, who lost her husband, the TV producer John Leach, to cancer four years ago.

At the weekend she celebrated the marriage of her Oxford-educated art researcher daughter Martha, 33, to music curator Gabriel Bijlmakers at Hackney Town Hall in London.

In a touching tribute to Leach, Janet, 68, reveals: ‘Martha held a picture of her dad tied with blue ribbon on her bouquet and we held him in our hearts every second of the day.’ She adds: ‘He’d have loved all of it, he loved her so much and knew she’d chosen the right man.’

Meanwhile, for the bride and groom’s first dance, Martha’s elder half-sister, pop star Sophie Ellis-Bextor, sang Carly Simon’s Nobody Does It Better. ‘My little sis is no longer a Miss,’ trills the singer.

Georgia May shares a bath with friends

Is a water birth on the cards for Georgia May Jagger?

I ask only as the 32-year-old pregnant Burberry model appeared completely at ease as she posed naked in a bathtub during a romantic getaway with her Texan skateboarder boyfriend Cambryan Sedlick, 24, at the Pig on The Beach hotel in Dorset.

‘Soaking in the English summer,’ says Sir Mick Jagger’s daughter online next to this social media snap of her peering over the tub’s edge.

Kids’ author Ben Miller fears losing his muses – his children – to adolescence.

‘I started writing when my oldest son was about eight or nine, and my (youngest) daughter is now nine. So, as I’m writing for seven to 11-year-olds, I figure I’ve got three years left,’ says Miller.

He admits his bestseller, Diary Of A Big Bad Wolf, was ‘all based on chat with my kids’.

The Green Party purports to offer ‘real hope’, but I hear there’s little hope for a harmonious gathering at the party’s conference next month – which features a ‘Meet the Green peers’ event.

Apparently former Green leader Baroness (Natalie) Bennett, 58, and life peer Baroness (Jenny) Jones, 74, ‘can’t stand each other’, a party insider tells me.
