A 13-year-old girl has been left fighting for life after she was struck by a P-plater while crossing a busy road.
Shaylee Kelton was hit by the yellow MG3 on Morley Drive in Eden Hill, in Perth’s northern suburbs, at about 5pm on Monday.
She was rushed to Perth’s Royal Hospital and placed into an induced coma after suffering two fractures to her skull and bleeding on the brain.
Her grandfather Michael Scicluna had been driving home when he saw the crash unfold.

He said he saw someone get hit by the car but only realised it was his granddaughter when he rushed over to help.
‘She was lying there unconscious, not moving, so I just spoke to her and spoke to her,’ he told Nine News.
‘The next thing she started gargling and coughed out some blood and I knew she was alive.’
Photographs of the aftermath showed the dented yellow MG3 with its right-hand side windscreen smashed in.
Shaylee will remain in the coma until doctors know the full extent of her brain injuries.
She has also had a hole put in her head to reduce swelling.
Mr Scicluna took to social media on Wednesday saying for now ‘it’s just a waiting game’ and added he believed the girl would pull through.
The teenager had been crossing the road to go to IGA with a friend when the horror collision occurred.
‘Apparently they ran across … they just played chicken with the car, and the chicken lost, well she hasn’t lost yet,’ Mr Scicluna told 7News.
The distraught grandfather said he was driving his car when he saw the collision and rushed to help – not knowing it was his granddaughter.
‘She was lying on her side, she wasn’t responsive … I actually thought she was dead,’ he said.
Mr Scicluna said he forgives the female driver who wasn’t hurt adding accidents like this happen ‘too often’ and kids need to be more wary on the roads.
‘I really hope [the driver’s] alright. I consoled her. She was hysterical . . .’ he told the West Australian.

‘I hope she doesn’t feel any blame because I told her it was not her fault.’
A resident who called triple-0 said he went outside when he heard the sound of a loud ‘bang’ on the major road which has a 70km/h speed limit.
He said he saw the girl was covered in blood and was going ‘in and out of consciousness’.
The girl’s mum Stacey Stafford, who has remained by the teenager’s bedside day and night, said she is getting the best possible care.
‘Shaylee is a fighter and I know she has the strength within her to overcome her injuries,’ she said.
Meanwhile, trauma doctors are providing specialist care to Shaylee with a dedicated ICU nurse watching her around the clock.
A spokeswoman from Perth’s Royal Hospital told Daily Mail Australia the girl remains in a serious condition.
Major crash detectives are investigating the shocking crash.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
‘She’ll get through this one way or another,’ Mr Scicluna (pictured with Shaylee) said
