Edwina Bartholomew pokes fun at Mel Gibson

She’s the bubbly Sunrise star set to host the red carpet arrivals at next month’s AACTA awards.

And on Saturday, Edwina Bartholomew took to Instagram to poke fun at Mel Gibson after their VERY memorable encounter at last year’s ceremony.

The 34-year-old was left red-faced after trying to interview Oscar winner Mel before he bluntly asked: ‘Who are you?’

‘Who are you?’: On Saturday, Edwina Bartholomew took to Instagram to poke fun at Mel Gibson after he failed to recognise her on the red carpet at last year’s AACTA Awards (pictured)

Broadcasting her self-deprecating sense of humour, the star shared a snap of her and AACTA red carpet co-host Jonathan Moran, adding the caption: ‘Pumped to be back hosting the AACTA Red Carpet with @jmoconfidential. Can’t wait to catch up with my mate Mel Gibson’.

Clearly enjoying the joke, radio stars Jonesy and Amanda replied to Eddie’s hilarious post, writing: ‘Get one of those ‘hello my name is …..’ stickers on your dress.’

It’s unclear whether Mel will return Down Under for the awards, but last week Eddie spoke with The Daily Telegraph gushing over Australian acting success stories.

‘Aussies are kicking so many goals overseas so it is great to recognise that talent here,’ she told the publication.

Speaking about her hosting duties alongside Jonathan she added: ‘Plus it is always nice to frock up and be out on a school night.’

The pair will welcome arrivals of some of Australia’s biggest local and international exports, with the likes of Nicole Kidman, Emma Booth, Anthony LaPaglia and Stephen Curry  attending the event.

Nicole Kidman is nominated several times in the Best Supporting Actress category for her roles in China Girl: Top of the Lake, as well as her portrayal of Sue Brierley in the hit film Lion.

Going head to head with Nicole for the award will be Emma Booth for her role in TV drama Blue Murder: Killer Cop.

The event is renowned for its choice of entertainment, and will not be without electrifying performances from acts such as Guy Sebastian, Anthony Callea, and iconic Australian pub rock legends The Angels.

The AACTAs will take place on December 6 at The Star Event Centre in Sydney
