  • Emergency services were called after an elderly man was stabbed in the back
  • Police said a row broke out over the facilities at a camping ground in NSW
  •  The victim is recovering in hospital, while a 59-year-old man has been charged

 A man is recovering in hospital after he was stabbed at a campsite in a row over the ‘facilities’.

Emergency services were called after the 61-year-old victim was attacked at Kyogle Showground in Northern New South Wales on Saturday.  

He was stabbed in the lower back before being taken to Lismore Base Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.  

A 58-year-old man was arrested and taken to Lismore Police Station, where he was charged with wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

According to police the two men, who were not known to each other, became involved in an angry exchange over the facilities. 

The 58-year-old has been refused bail to appear at Lismore Bail Court on Sunday.

The campground declined to comment when approached by Daily Mail Australia.
