Elijah Wood confirms he secretly welcomed second child with partner Mette-Marie Kongsved in 2021

The Lord of the Rings alum Elijah Wood just revealed that he and his Danish partner Mette-Marie Kongsved welcomed their second child – a daughter – sometime at the end of 2021.

‘[We have a] three-year-old son [Evan] and a 14-month-old daughter, and she wakes us up pretty early,’ the 42-year-old SAG Award winner confirmed to WSJ. Magazine.

‘I like getting up early, I like starting the day.’

Elijah is believed to have originally met his 31-year-old babymama in April 2016 on the Portland, OR set of Netflix’s Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore, which she produced and he starred in.

Mette-Marie also produced Wood’s films Mandy (2018), Come to Daddy (2019), and the upcoming adventure movie Bookworm directed by Ant Timpson.

The Iowa-born actor told the mag he loves taking an active role as a father from sleep training to packing school lunches for his little ones.

And while Elijah has amassed 2.9M followers on Twitter/Facebook, he revealed he secretly has a private Instagram account.

‘I wanted to be able to share photos that I didn’t necessarily want to share with the world,’ Wood explained.

‘An account that’s public-facing would really change what I share. It’s not like I’m sharing anything that I wouldn’t want to go out, but I’m a relatively private person.’

The Daytime Emmy nominee has been hard at work promoting his recurring role in the second season of Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson’s time-hopping drama Yellowjackets, which airs Sundays on Showtime.

In it, Elijah reunited with his Ice Storm castmate Christina Ricci to play Walter, a citizen detective who becomes a love interest to her ruthless nurse character Misty Quigley.

Wood will also star in Jiahuang Peng and Peng Chen’s upcoming video-gaming drama L.A. Rush as well as Macon Blair’s upcoming remake of The Toxic Avenger.

But the former child star famously got his start appearing in Paula Abdul’s 1989 music video for Forever Your Girl (directed by David Fincher) before landing a breakout role in Barry Levinson’s 1990 drama Avalon.
