It’s been eight years since Elizabeth Olsen made her debut as Wanda Maximoff a.k.a. Scarlet Witch, though the actress reveals she does not ‘miss’ playing the character.
Olsen, 34, debuted as Scarlet Witch in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, and she would return in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, the 2021 TV series WandaVision and 2022’s Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.
While there don’t appear to be any current plans for Olsen to return as Scarlett Witch, the actress revealed to The White Lotus Star Meghann Fahy in a Variety Actors on Actors interview that she is still proud of what they were able to do.
When asked if she misses playing Wanda, Olsen replied, ‘“No, I don’t. I think it’s been almost 10 years of playing her. And I’ve loved it.’
However, she added, ‘And I think the reason why I am not calling (Marvel president) Kevin Feige every day with ideas is because I’m really proud of what we were able to do.’

She added that the 2021 TV series WandaVision, which reunited her with Paul Bettany’s Vision, ‘was a really surprising opportunity.’
‘If someone were to tell me that I’m fired from Marvel movies, I will feel proud of what we made,’ she said.
‘And I really am just trying to figure out how to load up other films and characters so it becomes less about the Marvel of it all,’ Olsen added.
Fahy added, ‘That’s such a great answer! And so honest!’
It’s currently unclear if she will return in the MCU, considering her character’s uncertain fate from last year’s Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.
Wanda was last seen being crushed under a massive building, sacrificing herself to destroy the Darkhold, an evil book of sorcery that corrupted her.
Still, while that ‘version’ of Wanda was seemingly destroyed, the exploration of the ‘multiverse’ opens things up for different versions of Wand to appear.
Feige said last year, ‘There really is so much more to explore. We still haven’t touched on many of her core storylines from the comics.’

‘I’d work with Lizzie for another 100 years if we could. Anything’s possible in the multiverse! We’ll have to see,’ he cryptically added.
Leading up to Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, Olsen revealed in interviews that she was surprised they took her character in a villainous direction.
‘At first I think I was nervous and conflicted, because I hadn’t finished WandaVision yet, but we were almost finished,’ Olsen said.
‘And I was like, “Oh my god, how do I make this all work together?” We got there; I got there,’ she added.
‘And it became an amazing opportunity to have people be won over by this woman in WandaVision and feel for her, and then, you know, manipulate them into this film, where they get to be on her side and then feel conflicted themselves,’ she said.
