The Roads Not Taken tells the story of a day in the life of dementia sufferer Leo (Javier Bardem), who is cared for by his daughter Molly (Elle) as he floats through alternative lives of his past, including with his first wife Dolores (Salma).
Directed by Sally Potter, the movie was shot in just four days, and is inspired by the filmmaker’s brother.
At a conference earlier in the day, screenwriter Sally explained: ‘There is a lot of focus these days on identity, but I tend to think there is a crowd in everyone and we pick one and tend to perform it as ‘me’.
