Elle Macpherson shares diet and body rules she’s adopted in her 50s

While you might think that Elle Macpherson has a lot to thank her DNA for, the supermodel believes she can no longer rely ‘purely on genetics for my wellbeing’.

And so, after turning 54 last month, Elle said she needs to make a ‘conscious effort to stay in optimum health’.

For the model and entrepreneur, this translates into seven hours of sleep, an alkaline diet, an hour of exercise and a period of meditation daily.

Writing in her monthly column for Get The Gloss, the Australian-born supermodel shared the flat belly tips and tricks she’s adopted since turning 50.

While Elle admits it is possible to have a flat stomach in your fifties, there are a few approaches and diet tricks which help.

‘I don’t do ab workouts per se but most sports activate the core,’ Elle wrote in the column.

‘Sugar tends to put weight around the middle so the best exercise in my view is to skip the sugar.’

The 54-year-old said that daily exercise – whatever that may be for you – is important for maintaining a toned physique.

Elle is a fan of walking on the beach, paddle boarding, hiking, waterskiing, boxing and vinyasa yoga.

Combine half an avocado with fresh mineral water, two spoonfuls of chocolate-flavoured nourishing protein powder and one spoonful of Super Elixir powder in a Nutribullet.

Enjoy cold for breakfast.

When it comes to her diet, the supermodel has a few tried and tested flat belly tips.

Alongside Welleco’s nourishing plant protein, which she said is ‘great for supporting digestion’, Elle loves eating chocolate mousse for breakfast ‘for an energy boost, lean body and flat stomach’.

But Elle’s chocolate mousse isn’t like your regular shop-bought chocolatey treat.

Instead, the 54-year-old blends up half an avocado with some water, two spoonfuls of chocolate-flavoured nourishing protein powder and one of her Super Elixir formula:

‘Chocolate mousse for breakfast – delicious,’ Elle said in a video about her recipe.
