Elton John entertains thousands of adoring fans for final show at Madison Square Garden

Elton John entertained thousands of fans as he performed his last show at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Wednesday.

The singer, 74, donned navy robes which he wore over a white blazer for the show which is part of his Yellow Brick Road farewell tour.

The performance comes after Elton suffered a mid-air scare that forced his private jet to make an emergency landing while en route to the U.S.

Elton’s image was blasted on screen during the show, including black and white snaps of the star from his younger days.

Dua Lipa’s image also appeared on screen during the show for the duo’s song Cold Heart.

Though he appeared in high spirits on Wednesday, Elton was said to be ‘shaken’ up when his private jet had to make an emergency landing back in the UK that took three attempts due to fierce 80 mile-per-hour winds from Storm Franklin.

The jet endured problems with its hydraulic systems, while over Ireland, about an hour into the flight from Farnborough Airport in Hampshire on Monday.

Making matters even scarier, those winds reportedly ‘rocked the plane from side to side as it came in to for the initial emergency landing, a witness told the Times News UK.

After having made the successful touch down on the third attempt, Elton caught another flight to the U.S., and he was able to play the first of his two shows at MSG on Tuesday night.

The hardships endured during his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, of course, included all the shows that had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic after his concert in Sydney, Australia on March 7, 2020.

The nearly two-year break in between shows of the tour was also due to John having surgery on his injured hip, that happened when he ‘fell awkwardly on a hard surface.’

The Sad Songs (Say So Much) star only just resumed the tour in the U.S. in New Orleans on January 19.

But he would have to postpone two more tour dates for January 25 and 26 in Dallas, Texas, when he tested positive for COVID-19.

Fortunately, Elton was fully vaccinated and boosted so his symptoms were only mild.

The Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, a reference to John’s 1973 studio album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, is now scheduled to go through the U.S and Europe two times until it ends in July 2023, if all things go as planned.
