Reality television star Elyse Knowles has probably survived one of the most hectic years in her life, and naturally she did it all looking fresh and fabulous.
In addition to the model and her partner taking out this season of The Block, she’s also fronted major campaigns for Seafolly and the new Bras N Things lingerie collection.
The 25-year-old recently revealed to Body and Soul how she stays on top of it all, despite a sometimes grueling schedule.

EXERCISE EVERY DAY
Elyse, who radiates good health and an enviable physique, has one key recommendation: move every single day.
She explained that while she was filming The Block she only had limited time to get to the gym, but she’d make the effort because ‘it sparked my energy levels and I’d walk out feeling amazing.’
The active model said she is ‘all about heart rate’, so she chooses high intensity exercise as this gives her a much-needed energy boost.
‘I get competitive with myself by trying to get into my highest heart rate zone and that perks me up and gets me ready for the day,’ she told the publication.

EAT FOR ENERGY
Clearly eating right is a priority for Elyse, whose glowing skin is testament to her good health.
She said she starts each day with a green smoothie, and that even though the frantic filming schedule of The Block meant she didn’t have time to make these, she ordered in to make sure the vitamin-packed juices were always on hand.
Her approach to eating well, she outlined, is to have always healthy choices close by.
She said she makes sure she always carries a snack such as nuts, a protein ball or raw chocolate for that much-needed hit of energy.

TAKE TIME TO GET BACK TO NATURE
Elyse also recommends a reset via nature as a way to naturally recharge.
‘Josh and I love getting away from our home in Melbourne on weekends because it restarts us for the week ahead,’ she said.
The sun-loving fitness model said during the warmer months she’ll go camping as it’s a simple way to get back to basics, and admitted she loves ‘getting out in the dirt.’

SURROUND YOURSELF WITH POSITIVE PEOPLE
Given the pace of the reality star’s schedule this year, it would be easy to imagine the hectic pace becoming a little wearying.
But Elyse said maintaining an upbeat and positive attitude made all the difference, especially when things got tough.
She explained that she and Josh always ‘amped each other up’.

SHOWING UP IS IMPORTANT
While saying yes and then cancelling at the last moment is a fairly common way most of us handle an overbooked schedule, Elyse said making the effort to show up is always worth it.
But instead of thinking you need to spend hours and hours at an event, her advice is to consider making an appearance for up for an hour – with a smile on your face.

LEARN TO BE SELFISH
There are times when just saying no will benefit you in the long run, and it’s something Elyse recommends doing, when you feel you have to.
Prioritising your well-being is important, she said.
So while it might feel easier to go along with the crowd, despite feeling exhausted, taking time out could be better for you.

One of the easiest things to do to refresh yourself mentally Elyse believes is to take time out from tech: switch off your phone.
She said that not always being tethered to your phone is a great way to give your brain a much-needed break, plus there’s the added benefit of being able to focus on the moment.
The social media star also revealed how being online all day has at times left her feeling depleted.

FIND MOMENTS OF CALM WHERE YOU CAN
Given it can be so easy to become overwhelmed at this time of year, taking a few moments out for a much needed breather has so many benefits.
Elyse, a fan of essential oils, said she often just dabs a little on the end of her nose as a reminder to breathe.
She also added keeping a small bottle in your handbag can come in handy, especially when things get hectic or if you’re feeling overwhelmed.

While it can be easy to moan about yet another invitation, the busy socialite said its worth remembering a little gratitude goes a long way.
She said despite how tired her and Josh were during filming of The Block, the pair always took a moment to reflect on how grateful they were for the experience.

‘It can be as simple as kicking a footy around at a barbecue with friends, or turning up the music and having a dance.’
