Em Rusciano’s 2Day FM radio show sinks to new ratings lows

Her high-profile feud with ratings king Kyle Sandilands could have gone one of two ways.

And sadly for 2Day FM breakfast host Em Rusciano, her fiery back-and-forth with the KIIS star has done nothing to help her in the final radio ratings survey of 2017.

Having pulled in a woeful 2.9 last month, the Em Rusciano Radio Show will enter its first year as a three-host program back even further, recording a 2.8 on Tuesday.

No Christmas miracle: Having pulled in a woeful 2.9 last month, the Em Rusciano Radio Show will enter its first year as a three-host program back even further, recording a 2.8 on Tuesday

Meanwhile, Kyle, who famously told listeners her show was ‘s**t’ and ‘don’t bother,’ has cemented himself as the undeniable king of FM radio.

Alongside longstanding co-host Jackie O Henderson, his KIIS FM show landed a huge  12.1 per cent share of the overall breakfast radio market.

That’s up a further 1 per cent from their already impressive 11.1 in the seventh survey of the year, released in November.

Last month, it was announced Family Feud star Grant Denyer has decided to join 2Day FM’s breakfast show with Em Rusciano in 2018.

It’s the second shake-up in as many months, after it was announced Em’s co-host Harley Breen would be replaced by Ed Kavalee.

‘I am thrilled Grant will be joining the Sydney breakfast show,’ said HIT’s head of content Gemma Fordham in a statement on Thursday.

‘He is one of the country’s most energetic personalities and was a dynamo on breakfast TV and reshaped the landscape.’

Gemma promised Grant would ‘brighten up Sydney’s morning,’ alongside his new co-hosts.

All three offered cheeky congratulatory statements, with Em joking: ‘I’m delighted to have the blonde bombshell, glamorous bogan and Australia’s best friend, join our show.’

Have You Been Paying Attention’s Ed quipped: ‘Grant is a fantastic talent… He’s one of the biggest names in Australian showbiz (that’s not a short joke).’

‘We have a brand-new microphone and booster seat ready to go (that was a short joke).’

Grant, meanwhile, joked about his driving injuries: ‘I’m told breakfast radio is even more dangerous than race car driving,’ he began.

‘And I fractured my bum and almost died doing that this year….so, what could go wrong!!!’

‘I won’t need the booster seat Ed because it’s in my contract I get to sit on your knee. P.S I’ve already got dibs on driving our Mardi Gras float. Their lap times are ridiculous.’

If their chemistry manages to stay as bright and peppy on the show next year, perhaps Kyle Sandilands will consider beefing up his recent offer.

In a back-and-forwards war of words with Em in recent months, he’s called the show ‘s**t, don’t bother,’ and offered to buy the entire network for ‘$20.’
