Australian swimming champion Emma McKeon got more than she bargained for wrestling with a bottle of champagne at Derby Day in Melbourne on Saturday.
The Olympian, 30, attended the 2024 Melbourne Cup Carnival kickoff at Flemington Racecourse as the official ambassador for the champagne brand G.H. Mumm.
Emma certainly dressed to impress, wearing a stunning $10,000 Christian Dior gown for the glamorous occasion.
The off-the-shoulder black gown perfectly highlighted her svelte figure and showcased her well-toned arms.
She styled her chestnut locks with a matching black fascinator, allowing her long hair to cascade effortlessly down her back.
Standing on stage in front of photographers and a crowd of race day revellers, Emma appeared excited as she prepared to open a magnum bottle of the luxurious champagne.
However, it appears that Emma encountered an unexpected surprise after popping the cork on the large bottle.
A steady stream of champagne erupted from the bottle like a geyser, sending the bubbly beverage high into the air.

Unfortunately, Emma and her $10,000 race day attire fell victim to the errant liquid, which rained down on her, drenching her designer gown.
She took it all in her stride, though, beaming as she took her Derby Day soaking.
Throwing caution to the wind, Emma literally drenched herself in champagne in scenes that delighted the assembled crowd.

After her stunning turn in Paris, Emma became Australia’s most decorated Olympian.
Emma won three Olympic medals at the 2024 Paris Games, taking home gold in the 4x100m freestyle relay, silver in the 4x100m medley relay and bronze in the mixed 4x100m medley relay.
At the conclusion of the Paris Olympics, which she declared beforehand would be her last, Emma has collected 14 Olympic medals since 2016.
Emma and Cody went ‘Instagram official’ with their relationship in July 2022, three months after they began dating in secret.
Last year, the loved-up pair celebrated by buying their first home together.
The pair splashed out $1.826million on a family-sized love nest on the Gold Coast, proving their headline-making romance that flourished during training for the 2022 Commonwealth Games has become rather serious.
Speaking with Mark Bouris on the Straight Talk podcast in September, Cody said that marriage might be a way off for the pair, but was quick to gush about his ladylove.
‘It’s not something that we’ve spoken about,’ the pop star turned swimmer admitted, but went on to wax lyrical about their loving relationship.
‘We have something that is beautiful and honest and pure,’ Cody explained, adding that marriage was possible down the line.
‘When something means enough to you and family does and will mean that much to me, it will always be a part of the picture,’ he added.
Cody, who previously dated Miley Cyrus, said he has lived though ‘tumultuous relationships’ in the past and is glad of the stability with Emma.
‘It gave me a new life, it built me these beautiful, healthy habits, it gave me a great partner and it gave me a life in Australia again,’ he said.
Miley and Cody dated while he was living in the USA, splitting after 10 months together in August 2020.
