Emma Roberts, Michael Shannon and John Gallagher Jr. will headline upcoming thriller Abandoned


Emma Roberts, Michael Shannon and John Gallagher Jr. have been cast in the upcoming thriller Abandoned, which will be directed by Spencer Squire.

The film, which was penned by Squire, Jessica Scott, and Erik Patterson, recently finished production, Deadline reported.

It tells the tale of a mother, father and baby son inhabiting a farmhouse with a tragic past, which leads to a mental breakdown for the mother as she learns the details.

The latest: Emma Roberts, 30, Michael Shannon, 47, and John Gallagher Jr., 37, have been cast in the upcoming thriller Abandoned, which will be directed by Spencer Squire. She was snapped in NYC in July 

Roberts, best known for her work on FX’s American Horror Story and Scream Queens, has been seen in recent years in films such as Holidate and The Hunt. She’s also set to appear in the upcoming romantic comedy About Fate with Thomas Mann and Cheryl Hines.

Shannon, who has past been nominated for Oscars for his work in the films Nocturnal Animals and Revolutionary Road, was seen earlier this year in the film Heart of Champions and the mini-series Nine Perfect Strangers.

Gallagher Jr. appeared in the recent motion pictures The Same Storm and Come Play, and was featured in the most recent season of the HBO series Westworld.

The film will be the first produced amid the new partnership between Vertical Entertainment and Three Point Capital, Deadline reported.

Vertical’s Peter Jarowey and Three Point Capital’s David Gendron and Ali Jazayeri said in a statement to the outlet that the collaboration ‘begins a new chapter for Vertical Entertainment and Three Point Capital and we could not be more excited to be partnered together on this journey.

‘As we successfully did with Abandoned, our financing strategy moving forward will be hyper-focused on the symmetry of art and commerce making sure that the ratio of story, talent (both in front of and behind the camera) and spend equates to a fantastic consumer experience that is beneficial to both Vertical’s and Three Point’s bottomline.’

Jarowey added that the film will mark the company’s ‘first foray in this endeavor’ and producers ‘are extremely proud of the progress thus far.’

He added that the ‘screenplay is terrific, and Spencer delivered an extremely frightening, yet relatable, feature brought to life by his incredible cast.’
