Succession makes Emmy HISTORY scoring THREE lead actor nominations for Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin and Jeremy Strong — as the full list of nominations is revealed
The nominations for the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced on Wednesday morning, and Succession scored an impressive feat by landing three nominations in the coveted Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series category.
That marks a record for the award show and the series, as no other show has landed three actors in the lead actor category in the same year before.
Brian Cox, who plays series patriarch Logan Roy, will be competing against his costars Jeremy Strong, who plays his ambitious son Kendall Roy, and Kieran Culkin, who plays his more troubled younger son Roman.
The series, which was created by Jesse Armstrong, traces the fortunes of the Roy family, which owns a media and entertainment conglomerate led by the tempestuous Logan Roy. He struggles to main control of his empire in the darkly comic drama while his adult children vie to succeed him.
The fourth and final season of Succession will face stiff competition in the Outstanding Drama Series category against other popular HBO series, The White Lotus, The Last Of Us and the Game Of Thrones prequel House Of The Dragon.
The Bob Odenkirk–starring Breaking Bad prequel series Better Call Saul also scored a nomination in the category for its acclaimed final season. The show has been nominated 46 times at previous ceremonies, but has shockingly never once won an Emmy in any category despite the show’s rabid fan base and nearly universal critical approval.
