Emmys 2024: The cast of the Martin show reunites with Martin Lawrence, Tisha Campbell, Carl Anthony Payne II and Tichina Arnold taking the stage

More than 30 years after it debuted, the cast of Martin reunited on the Emmys 2024 stage on Sunday night.

Martin Lawrence (Martin Payne), Tisha Campbell (Gina Waters-Payne), Carl Anthony Payne II (Cole Brown) and Tichina Arnold (Pamela James) reunited on the Emmy stage in a recreation of their set.

The reunion was one of many planned presenter reunions throughout the night, including the casts of The Sopranos, Ally McBeal, Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update, American Horror Story and Grey’s Anatomy.

The show ran for five seasons from 1992 to 1997 spanning 132 episodes, and while it’s considered now as one of the most influential sitcoms of all time, it didn’t even earn a single Emmy nomination during its run.

The iconic Martin set was unveiled on stage, as Lawrence walked out to join Campbell, Payne II and Arnold on the set.

Lawrence said, ‘Can you believe this? This is a real moment,’ before Payne II added, ‘We getting out Emmy tonight!’

He added, ‘Matter of fact, I got my speech on deck too. They better not send momma D out to play me off.’

Campbell explained, ‘Carl, we’re not winning an Emmy, hun, please, sit your butt down.’

Arnold exlpained, ‘We’re presenting an Emmy, not being presented with one, knucklehead.

Campbell added, ‘Wait. But Carl isn’t wrong, guys. We should’ve had a couple of Emmys during our run, but we were never even nominated, despite 132 episodes, huge ratings, and being in syndication so much that it’s a little hard for me to see the ’90s Spanx-less version of myself, aint’ that right Tichina?’

‘No. I still look good,’ Tichina said as the crowd laughed, before Emmys host Anthony Anderson joined them.

‘Hey, hey, hey, hold on. I want to thank you guys for your contribution to television, but like me, for the last 11 times you’re not going to get an Emmy,’ Anderson said.

Arnold admitted, ‘That kind of sucks,’ but Payne insisted, ‘He’s tricking us. Keep going,’ as Martin Lawrence stepped up to say a few words.
