An emotional Andriy Yarmolenko poignantly remembered the victims of the war in Ukraine as he celebrated his goal against Aston Villa on Sunday.

The Ukraine international scored West Ham’s opener in their 2-1 win against Aston Villa, before dropping to his knees, his arms stretched aloft in tribute to those affected by the bloody conflict that’s afflicted his home country for the past three weeks.

Pablo Fornais added a second in the closing stages to ensure the Hammers ended a run of three consecutive defeats in all competitions to temporarily climb up to fifth in the Premier League table.
