An emotional Brooke Boney has broken down in tears while reading the news about the Westfield Bondi Junction massacre on Channel Nine’s Today Show.
Boney struggled to maintain her composure while reading the news shortly after 8am on Monday.
Hosts Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo took over reading the bulletin as an emotional Boney teared up.
Stefanovic then addressed Boney’s absence.
‘Sorry folks, this story is just so heavy and we are not the story,’ Stefanovic told viewers.
‘Nor would we ever want to be.

‘But dealing with this story and its magnitude and how awful it is for mothers and babies and it’s a lot. So apologies for some of us, you know, getting upset at times.’
Boney returned to air shortly afterwards.
‘I think as well, you know, knowing that there were so many women affected, yeah, it’s really hard,’ she explained.
‘You see people that you love and friends of friends, and it’s really tough. And you think about families as well, and having to pick up the pieces.’
