Engaged couple have house, hotel and work broken into

It was supposed to be the dream weekend away to celebrate their engagement – but instead a young couple suffered the holiday from hell.

Sabrina Teutelink and Daniel Schneider chose to celebrate their commitment to each other with a stay at the Chalet Motor Inn in Bundaberg, Queensland on Saturday night.

The couple went out for dinner that night and came back to their room early on Sunday morning to find some of their most valuable possessions had been stolen.

A laptop, iPad, camera and make-up had been stolen, as well as their car, house and work keys.

Ms Teutelink told the News Mail she was ‘shocked’ to find her room had been ransacked.

The bathroom window was flung wide open, and the fly-screen covering the opening had been removed seemingly to allow entry into the room.

‘My laptop bag had all our wedding planning stuff in it so that’s months’ worth of wedding plans gone,’ she said.

More thefts were yet to come for the couple, who then had their house burgled.

‘We haven’t had an in-depth look yet but there’s definitely some jewellery missing and an expensive bottle of Bundy rum,’ Ms Teutelink said.

Just when they thought it couldn’t get any worse, the Gladstone RSL and Bowls Club, where Ms Teutelink works, was broken into at 3am on Monday morning.

She believes the same thieves used the keys they stole from the hotel room to then break into her home and her workplace.

‘I feel violated,’ she said.
