England football heroes enjoy a well-earned day with their families

England players took a well-earned rest day with their families on Sunday after their quarter-final victory over Sweden.

Ashley Young and Jordan Henderson were seen going for a stroll in St Petersburg 24 hours after they helped England reach the last four for the first time since 1990.

Young, who was accompanied by his wife Nicky Pike, pushed a pram through the Russian park after he played all 90 minutes on Saturday.

Henderson also took charge of a buggy carrying his two children as he joined his wife Rebecca Burnett for a stroll in St Petersburg.

Young helped England on their way to the semis with the assist for their first goal as Harry Maguire headed in his first-half corner.

Henderson played most of the quarter-final, coming off with five minutes left to be replaced by Eric Dier as England closed out the game.

Both men looked casual today, with Henderson wearing a grey Nike hoodie and black shorts while Young stepped out in jeans and a black jumper.

Rebecca Burnett wore a cropped black shirt and tied a jumper around her waist while Nicky Pike chose a green coat and white trousers with temperatures much cooler in Russia than back home in the UK.

England’s training camp is in Repino, 20 miles away from the centre of St Petersburg, although they are yet to play in the city.

They face Croatia in Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium on Wednesday night for a place in next Sunday’s final at the same venue.

If they lose in the semi-finals they will line up in St Petersburg on Saturday for the third-place playoff against either Belgium or France.

England have played in the World Cup semis twice before, beating Portugal 2-1 at Wembley during their victorious 1966 campaign, and losing on penalties to West Germany after a 1-1 draw in the 1990 knockout stage.

The players’ wives and girlfriends enjoyed a night out in the city earlier in the tournament, led by Rebekah Vardy who shared pictures of the evening online.

Young tied the knot with childhood sweetheart Nicky in 2015, four years after the couple had originally planned to marry.

The England winger left friends and family shocked when he called off the £200,000 ceremony out of the blue just 48 hours before the big day in 2011.

But at the second time of asking the couple, who began dating when they were still at school, got hitched in a secret wedding at the plush Stoke Place Hotel in Buckinghamshire three years ago.
