Floyd Mayweather was the headline act as megastars from across the entire sporting spectrum attended one of the world’s great spectacles, the Super Bowl, in Minnesota on Sunday night.
England manager Gareth Southgate was also a surprise guest as he looked to garner some insight from an unlikely source ahead of this summer’s FIFA World Cup.
Filling time ahead of England’s campaign in Russia, Southgate told BBC he had already met with coaches from several franchises in the States and was keen to learn more from the NFL’s managerial processes.

Southgate revealed he hoped to learn something that can help him in his England duties
Speaking in the BBC studio, he said: ‘What an atmosphere. It’s a great experience. I’m still working and watching the coaches on the side. Part enjoyment, part work.
‘I’m watching the interaction with the other coaches and who’s calling the plays. They are also communicating on the field too which is a bit different to what we can do.
‘We’ve also had some meetings with the coaches with the Vikings and the Falcons. One of the big things we talked about was the talent Identification, they are big on their draft picks.
‘We also looked at their junior teams and what’s the criteria for bring them into the teams.’
Manchester City star Benjamin Mendy looked delighted to be given a spot on the pitch side
Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy also found the time to hop across the Atlantic to take his seat at the US Bank Stadium in Minnesota as he continues his rehabilitation from a serious knee injury.
The Frenchman, who is still a doubt to play again this season, has been State-side for much of the last week to promote Manchester City’s latest pre-season tour following their success last summer.
Away from football, tennis star Eugenie Bouchard was at the NFL season’s grand finale with a fitting guest.
She appeared pitch side with John Goehrke, the man made famous when he made a bet with Bouchard over the result of last year’s Super Bowl.
He won that bet, predicting the New England Patriots’ stunning comeback and won a date. They have stayed in contact ever since that date and looked chummy as they sat together.
