England players are completing extra penalty practice ahead of the Euro 2024 knockout stages.

The elimination rounds brings into play the prospect of a shoot-out – and while those within the squad are keeping the exact details of their penalty training secret, they have started practicing spot-kicks.

Ezri Konsa said: ‘We’ve been practising it after training, a few players go off and practice penalties. Look, we’re not thinking about going to penalties on Sunday, but if it comes to it, we’ll be well prepared.

Marc Guehi added: ‘We’ve been doing a lot of work. The work’s been going really well across the team on penalties. It’s important to make sure we’re ready.’

England take on Slovakia on Sunday in their last-16 fixture.

Gareth Southgate’s side finished top of Group C with five points from three games but were criticised for underwhelming performances.

The Three Lions were beaten on penalties by Italy in the final of Euro 2020.
