A talent who has represented England at youth level has announced that he has been forced to retire at the age of 21.

Morten Spencer joined Leeds from Sunderland back in 2019 and made his way through the ranks until he was offered a first professional contract in 2021.

He featured regularly at youth level for the Whites but never managed to break into the first team before joining Derby County’s U21s in the summer.

He represented England two times at U15 level before switching his allegiances to Norway.

However, his career will be going no further after he revealed he will have to hang his boots up due to medical concerns.

‘Heartbroken to be saying this. I will be retiring from professional football due to a cardiac problem I can’t carry on with,’ he wrote on Instagram.
