Entire Queensland town – with 12 houses – is up for sale at a knockdown price of $500,000

The Australian housing market has become notorious for its extortionate prices and impenetrable.

But as home-buyers continue to be locked out of the nation’s big cities, one regional Queensland property is offering a slightly more affordable alternative.

The entire township of Allies Creek has gone to market for just $500,000 – less than half the median price of a single house in Sydney.

Located some 60km south of Mundubbera and a five-hour drive from Brisbane, the town is situated on 37 acres of land and boasts a full 12 homes – all in good condition and all connected to power and water, The Chronicle reports.

The property also comes fitted out with its own helipad, tennis court, freshwater lake, several large sheds and a massive community hall with a barbecue area.

‘This property has huge potential and you could truly do anything with it,’ said real estate agent Danielle Meyer, who visited Allies Creek last week.

‘I was blown away, you couldn’t find anything that compares in Queensland for that price.’

The town initially went to market in 2015 for $2.1 million, following the death of current owner Natali Williams’ partner Lyle.

The Williams’ had planned to convert into a caravan park – but those ambitions are ‘no longer practical’, says Ms Meyer.

Just weeks ago, a dilapidated 96 square-metre terrace house in inner-western Sydney went to auction with a projected sale price of more than $1 million.

That property – which had no kitchen, crumbling walls and a roofless bathroom – was described as ‘obviously not livable’ by a real estate agent.

Last week, another house in Sydney has no floor was estimated to fetch up to $1.7 million.

Less than a month later, the Allies Creek listing is offering buyers an entire twelve-house township for less than half the price tag.

‘Here is your opportunity to buy and transform this little town into a family resort or wellness retreat,’ said Ms Meyer.
