Erica Packer brings in ‘interior designer to the stars’ to complete $72m penthouse

Erica Packer brings in ‘interior designer to the stars’ to complete the makeover of her ex-husband James’ $72million Crown penthouse

A famed L.A. celebrity interior designer has been revealed as one of the brains behind the makeover of billionaire James Packer’s $72million Sydney penthouse.

Nathan Turner, star of reality show Million Dollar Decorators, consulted on the re-design of Packer’s lavish home atop Crown’s recently completed casino and resort.

He was brought in by Packer’s ex-wife Erica to help convert the sprawling two-storey luxury pad into a ‘family friendly’ space, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Erica, 45, has been over-seeing operations on the lavish fit-out of the Packer penthouse, which includes ripping out a stairwell and installing a lift.

Spread over the 48th and 49th floor of One Barangaroo, the lavish home offers astounding views of Sydney’s famous harbour.

Sources close to Turner revealed to the publication that the star decorator is using beige silk wall paper to ‘create warmth and character’ inside the pad’s 25-rooms.

Turner, who is based in the U.S., did work on the apartment over three separate visits to Sydney.

Erica, who reportedly has a fondness for all things vintage, had Turner scouring local retailers specialising in mid-century pieces including furniture and light fittings.

Turner also sought pieces from antiques dealer Tamsin Johnson and pottery work from Mud Australia and the DEA. He also shopped at Vampt Vintage, Studio Alm and the Sketch Co Gallery.

James Packer, who was instrumental in building the development at Barangaroo, bought the pad off the plan in 2017 for $60million.

Meanwhile, James flew into Sydney for the first time in three years, earlier this week, to check out the completed penthouse.

The 55-year-old stepped off a private jet which touched down at Sydney airport on Sunday alongside Erica, and their two daughters Indigo, 14, and Emmanuelle, 10.

It’s understood the ‘rent-a-jet’ flight took off from Saudi Arabia and it’s understood that the family will be in Sydney for a ten-day stay.

James and Erica Packer married in 2007, and finally split in 2013, and are currently co-parenting their three children.

James Packer mostly spends his time between an $80million Los Angeles mansion, which he purchased to be closer to Erica and their children, his $20million home in Aspen, Colorado, and his recently completed $50million compound in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

He also has a polo ranch Ellerstina on the outskirts of Buenos Aires and a superyacht he often stays aboard.
