Tottenham star Erik Lamela scored one of the all-time great Premier League goals in Sunday’s North London derby with an outstanding rabona finish, before ruining his afternoon with a red card.
The Spurs star began the match om the bench but was called into action after just 19 minutes when Son-Heung min went down with a hamstring injury. And Lamela took no time at all to make his mark at the Emirates with a brilliant moment of skill to give Tottenham the lead.
Lucas Moura set the ball back to Lamela inside the Arsenal box and the Argentine hit a rabona through the legs of Thomas Partey and into the bottom right corner of the Gunners’ goal, out of reach from Bernd Leno.

He wheeled off in a frenzy as his Spurs teammates all ran to celebrate in complete disbelief. Left-back Sergio Reguilon put his head in his hands completely in awe of Lamela’s finish.
However, during the second half Lamela cost his team dearly with a red card after two bookable offences in quick succession. Jose Mourinho was visibly annoyed with his player after he hit Kieran Tierney in the face for his second yellow.
At half-time of the North London derby, pundit Jamie Redknapp said the Spurs opener was ‘one of the best goals he’s ever seen in the Premier League’.

He told Sky Sports: ‘This is one of the best goals I’ve seen in the Premier League. We’ve seen 30 yarders, great volleys, great team goals but never seen anything like this.
‘He did it in a Europa League game a few years back but the audacity to do it in a North London derby.
‘The improvisation there as it comes behind him, the rabona as they call it, it’s absolute world-class.
‘It’s an amazing piece of skill because as it comes to him he has to work his feet, he knows it has to go low, it goes through Partey’s legs, he hits it so hard. Look at the power he puts into it, brilliant.’
Fans also went crazy for the goal on social media. Former England striker Gary Lineker referenced the 29-year-old’s other rabona goal against Asteras in the 2014 Europa League.
He tweeted: ‘The thing about the Lamela goal is, it’s not even the best Rabona he’s scored.’
BT Sport presenter Jules Breach tweeted: ‘Oh my, that is naughty Lamela, absolutely disgustingly brilliant.’
Musician Laycon tweeted: ‘Lamela that is just filthy,’ while YouTube personalty and well-known Arsenal fan KSI tweeted: ‘F*** off Lamela.’
