Manchester United considered sacking Erik ten Hag over the summer before ultimately deciding that it was better to give him a one-year contract extension.
Ten Hag is now under contract at Old Trafford until June 2026 but that does not necessarily mean that his job is safe.
United have made an underwhelming start to the new season by winning just one of their first four matches.
In their final fixture before the international break, Ten Hag saw his side thrashed 3-0 at home by rivals Liverpool.
Ten Hag is currently the bookmakers’ joint-favourite – along with Everton’s Sean Dyche – to be the first Premier League manager to lose his job this season.

Meanwhile, it was reported by The Guardian this week that Ten Hag is in danger of being sacked unless he improves his style of play.
Key members of United’s Ineos-led football department – including Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Dan Ashworth and Jason Wilcox – are said to be unimpressed by the way Ten Hag’s team have struggled to dominate games.
However, Ratcliffe and Co apparently accept that Ten Hag has been severely hampered by injury problems so far this season and that he should be given time to integrate his five senior summer signings.
United have spent more than £200million on new players since finishing seventh in the Premier League last season, bringing in Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui and Manuel Ugarte.

Ugarte has yet to make his United debut, while Yoro suffered a significant injury during a pre-season trip to the USA.
Ten Hag’s first-choice central striker, Rasmus Hojlund, has also yet to play this season after picking up a knock in America.
