Erik ten Hag suggests that Manchester United’s transfer business is DONE after signing Wout Weghorst

Erik ten Hag suggests that Manchester United’s transfer business is DONE after the arrival of Holland striker Wout Weghorst and back-up goalkeeper Jack Butland… with youngsters set to be given more opportunities in the second-half of the season

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has suggested that the club have already completed their transfer business for the January window.

United have already wrapped up deals for Wout Weghorst and Jack Butland but this could be the end of their activity, according to Ten Hag.

Speaking before the Manchester derby, the 52-year-old coach hinted that with the two signings, combined with youngsters breaking through, Manchester United’s business is done.

United were in desperate need of a striker following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo and have now ticked that box after signing Weghorst.

The club also lost back-up ‘keeper Martin Dubravka, who returned to Newcastle, and the signing of Butland fills that gap.

Speaking on the window, Ten Hag said: ‘In the balance of the squad it’s what we need I am happy with that.

‘So if there are more opportunities we will be ready for that and looking for that but it has to be once again the right player.’

It is therefore likely that Manchester United’s current roster of players will see them through until the end of the campaign.

Ten Hag also touched on how important United’s youngsters will be.

‘You see in the week Kobbie Mainoo and Facundo Pellistri – I think also we have some good young players that can also fight for their minutes,’ said the United boss.

The Red Devils take on Manchester City next – with Ten Hag’s side hoping to seek revenge for the 6-3 humiliation they suffered earlier in the season.

The Manchester derby is huge to both teams in terms of their targets for the season – with both sides hoping to secure their city’s bragging rights.
