Eros in Potts Point, east Sydney, closed for the weekend after outlaw bikie gang threat

Swanky inner-city restaurant is forced to close over fears bikies would storm the venue: ‘Kings Cross isn’t a safe place right now’

A trendy inner-city restaurant was forced to close its doors over the weekend after police handed the venue an urgent closure notice warning of a threat from bikies.

Eros in Potts Point was handed an urgent 60-hour short term closure order by the Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority (ILGA) on Friday night.

The body said it was concerned a ‘serious breach’ of NSW liquor regulations was ‘likely to occur on the premises,’ the Daily Telegraph reports.

It’s understood the ILGA issued the order following advice from NSW Police that an outlaw bikie gang was intending to enter the premise.

A source with knowledge of the frightening situation told Daily Mail Australia: ‘Kings Cross isn’t a safe place right now, tensions are rising… war is imminent.’

The information on Friday raised concerns for the wellbeing of diners at the swanky Greek restaurant.

The ILGA said it had obtained ‘police information of a serious nature’ and ‘determined that closure of the premises is necessary to prevent or reduce a significant threat or risk to the public interest’.

The closure order was enforced from 7.30pm on Friday and lifted 7.30am on Monday.

Eros has reportedly had other recent compliance issues including a violent fight in February that saw male patrons use glass bottles as weapons.

Several people were injured in the fight but it was not reported to authorities by the restaurant. Instead a witness notified police.

The news follows complaints from regular diners that the restaurant has disappeared off social media.

One woman posted on several community pages asking if Eros had closed after she was unable to call its booking number last week.

‘Does anyone here live in Potts point and know if Eros has been closed down?,’ she wrote.

‘Their phone has been disconnected and their Instagram and Facebook deleted. As well as the owners page.’

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Eros for comment.
