People who attended the Esoteric Festival last week are being urged to watch out for gastro symptoms after a major outbreak was linked to the event.

At least 120 festival-goers have reported gastroenteritis symptoms after attending the festival in country Victoria, which ran from Friday March 8 through to Tuesday this week.

A number of these cases have been confirmed as shigella gastroenteritis – a highly-contagious gastro strain characterised by a sudden onset of diarrhoea, abdominal cramps, nausea and vomiting.
