A sports reporter has been mercilessly mocked on social media after committing a culinary faux pas.

Darren Rovell of ESPN posted a video of himself eating a Four’N Twenty pie with a knife and fork, in honour of Australian NBA player Ben Simmons.

Simmon’s team the Philadelphia 76ers will be selling the Australian meat pie brand at their games after making a deal with the company.

Rovell decided to taste test the pies, but made a huge mistake. 

‘The @sixers, inspired by Australian star Ben Simmons, are now selling Meat Pies at their games. I put them to the taste test this morning,’ Rovell wrote on Twitter.

‘Its actually pretty good,’ Rovell says in the video.

‘I have been destroyed all day for how I apparently tested out the Australian meat pie being offered at 76ers games. Now that the police are involved, I would like to extend my sincere apologies,’ he wrote.
