Cheerleader Rebecca Batchelor, 21, egged her boyfriend Anis Ben-Sghaier, 25, on and celebrated whenever he swindled large sums of money from vulnerable pensioners, a court has heard
A cheerleader urged her con-artist boyfriend to defraud vulnerable pensioners out of thousands of pounds and used his ill gotten gains to fund her lavish lifestyle.
Rebecca Batchelor, 21, who runs the Billericay Town FC cheerleading squad, egged her boyfriend Anis Ben-Sghaier, 25, on – celebrating whenever he swindled large sums of money from pensioners, a court has heard.
Batchelor helped draft a letter to a victim, urging them to invest in carbon credits at a cost of thousands before going on luxury shopping sprees.
Batchelor’s cheerleading squad made news this year when they were fired and re-hired after being accused of distracting the players at the Essex football club.
In one WhatsApp exchange between the criminal couple, the model texted: ‘Woooooo, shopping time. Omg hahahaa I am joking,’
While in another she demanded: ‘Is Dot paying today?’ before replying again shortly after with: ‘She better be, the b*****!’

A jury heard some of the cash was used as a down-payment on a Range Rover Sport.
Batchelor, of Rayleigh, Essex, originally denied getting money from the fraud but yesterday admitted a charge of converting criminal property after the WhatsApp messages were read to Chelmsford crown court.
Anis Ben-Sghaier cold-called pensioners and convinced them to ‘invest’ their cash in useless carbon credits.
He admits to taking more than £200,000 from nine victims with his brother Amin, 27.
While his ex-girlfriend CathreenWelch, 23, of Essex and his brother Bilal, 22, or Harlow, deny profiting from the scam.
