Europa and Champions League winners will be awarded trophy in full presentation with UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin undertaking same Covid-19 testing regime as squads

  • Winners of the UEFA’s showcase title will celebrate with a formal ceremony
  • The Champions League and Europa League winners will be handed their medals
  • UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin is undertaking strict control protocols
  • The Slovenian is being tested regularly and under the same regime as players

The winners of both the Europa and Champions League finals will be handed their prizes in full trophy presentations.

Unlike the FA Cup Final, each of Europe’s two showcase matches will see players given their medals and the trophies in a formal gathering.

UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin is undergoing the same testing control regime as coaches and players to ensure safety when he takes part in ceremonies designed to feel as normal as possible.

The 2020 Champions League winners will be able to celebrate with an official ceremony

The Solovenian, who will hand over medals at the Europa and Champions League finals, is being tested every few days and is in a specially-designed bubble. Trips away from his hotel are limited, as are the numbers of people who can see him.

Ceferin, 52, will not have to wear a mask thanks to the regime that has been put in place.

Both presentations – at the Europa League final in Cologne a week today and at the Champions League final in Lisbon on Sunday – will take place on the pitch.
